Flare!

20130119-133721.jpg
Sorry I didn’t post yesterday! I was out the whole day!
But don’t worry! Today I’m gonna post a photo now and one later!

This photo Is quite old but pretty cool, the red flare across the lens came up as I took the shot and it was awesome!

A forest path.

20130117-192426.jpg

Okay so today’s photo is not my favourite 😦 I took it in the same place as the grass photo and was trying to experiment by “cooling” the picture (which gives a more movie like feel) but it doesn’t seem to have came out too amazingly.. Oh well! Of course it does have some good points and after having a second look now I realise it does have some decent elements to it as well as a creepy aura!

If you think you might have a creepy photo that you want me to submit onto here feel free to contact me at snapsticle@gmail.com 😀

if you still have any ideas for next week’s photos, write it in the comment section below! 🙂

Sunset ocean

Karina GÄ™dÅ‚ekHello Everyone! This is just a small post before I’m off to school!

This photo was taken by Karina Gędłek, who lives in Poland! 🙂

If you have any photos of your own you’d like to be displayed on this blog, just email me at snapsticle@gmail.com
Anyway! Tell her what you think about it, because personally I think it’s fantastic!

A Patch of Grass on the Forest Path.

Grass.

Hey Everyone 🙂 How was your day? Or how is your day going to be? – depending on where in the world you are right now! 😀 today’s image is a low angle macro of a patch of grass- I know, cool! :O

Of course the entire background of this photo is completely blurred out but it is in fact a long winding path through a forest. Unfortunately that didn’t make the best photo so instead I crouched (well, tripped) to the ground and poised the camera ready for this low angle shot. While sometimes low angle shots can be focused on objects further back, the same rule of thumb applies: Always aim up or horizontal; when I was younger I always had it tilted slightly down and I always wondered why the shots looked so dull/plain! And that is the end of our lesson, night 🙂

Oh Wait I was meant to ask: What theme do you want next week? Suggest some in the comments below and then I’ll continue to make a poll! 🙂

Long road!

20130115-175838.jpg

Hey everyone! ;D isn’t today awesome? I mean apart from the fact there was meant to be snow here in England, and there wasn’t 😦 but still another day, another photo 😀

This photograph was taken further up the road from yesterday’s one and combines HDR with some subtle editing to give the trees a silhouette appearance 🙂 hope you enjoy

p.s If anyone would like to display their photos on this blog I would be happy to give them credit if they simply email me with the photo or a link to the photo as well as any personal details eg. Name, country Etc 🙂 the email is snapsticle@gmail.com

I’m Back!

A Grim Light.

Hello! How are you? Great! Well here is the latest addition to the blog! I hope you like it! It’s a sorta weird snap of Basildon center which has a certain depressing beauty to it! I mean the elegance of the statue as well as how monotone the whole photo appears with a few sparks of colour dashed here and there within the trees and in shining lights! Of course in real life Basildon has no sparks of colour in it! 😛

Anyway I hope you like it! And remember to vote for what theme you want next week on the previous post! 😀

The Life and Times of a Flower

Hey Everyone! I got a post for you! I took this around a week ago, back when these plants hadn’t been eaten by my cat which will seemingly eat anything, and I decided that this would be an amazing post to add to the collection! I hope you enjoy it!

Oh by the way, I forgot to make a poll on what you want next week on yesterdays post… So here it is!

The Shining Lights Of London.

Hello! Sorry for not posting yesterday and the day before 😦 There were some complications with the London thing and I had to get home early and it was difficult, and confusing and tiring. But I’ve finally got a computer back and so I can post again and here is another photo of later on in the day in London 🙂 I took this just after going to a very nice Chinese Restaurant called “Hong Kong Buffet” which had been visited by Gok Wan! (My sister went mad over that) But anyway this place is amazing for photos and cheap food!

Bright Lights!

20121030-235009.jpg

Ahh! I’m back in London! This time I’m stuck further east, over in Whitechapel in a tiny hotel room 😀 what a perfect opportunity to take some snaptacular shots! 🙂

I headed off to Leicester Square as soon as we put I bags down! There were some amazing views, especially as it got later! (not to mention the amazing food at china town!)

This photo is just one of the snaps I caught of the area as it neared a cold 5:00! The lights switched on and the city was still buzzing with life! Perfect!

Anyway it’s nearly midnight here (5 minutes!) and I have no way to access my good camera do you’ll just have to deal with this 🙂 goodnight! I’ll be posting some better ones soon 😉

Defining a Life.

So this picture was a bit of an experiment/project as well as a piece of photography! 🙂 It is supposed to be the objects that represent my sisters life at the moment! From the statuette cat that shows her artistic as well as cat like side, to the Foster The People Album that she listens to all the time 😉 To me it looks almost dream-like with the glittering background and the flare in the foreground!

Sitting on the grassy Hillside!

Today’s photo is of my friend (well sister’s friend) Sitting down at the country park not too far from my park! 🙂

I’ve lived in the same place all my life and I only learnt about this place around a year ago! It’s around five times bigger than the other one (I have some photos of a lake, that’s the park) and It’s much more natural and you can actually see the difference throughout the year and it is massive! I am planning to start a photo-montage of the area where I take the same picture everyday for a year then merge it together till I have 365 days! 😀 This will start on January the 1st!

Oh by the way, next weeks photos are of objects! Thanks for voting 🙂

Birds are people too!

Once again I have to apologise for not having an actual photograph featuring a person or part of a person! (unless you count birds as people) My ankle is preventing from going not much farther than the toilet! But I promise that by the weekend I will force myself, even if it kills me, to go out and take some more snaptacular shots of people!

This snap was taken whilst at a bird show in Schwarzwald and it was a stunning display! There were many more photos which I have, unfortunately, lost! Never mind though! This Photo clearly shows the elegance and power of these magnificent birds! There wingspan is massive! I wouldn’t want to annoy one of these!

Eye see you.

Do you get it? because “eye” do! Puns aside, these snaps were all taken some time within the week and, rather than just posting a whole album and having to figure out a whole new feature of the website, I decided to make one massive collage of some of the best! 😀

admittedly they are not all of the highest quality and the theme this week is humans so my cats eyes probably should be excluded, but I saw this as a unique way of displaying the snaps as well as also improving my knowledge on all the editing tools! Anyway, I hope you enjoy it! 😉

New Day, New look!

I’ve decided to try out a new look for the blog! I hope you like it! Of course this is a perfect opportunity for a poll! So tell me what did you prefer, the old theme, or the new one???

Also just a quick announcement! This weeks theme is People! Wish me luck!

Wandering through the sunrise.

20121018-075808.jpg
Don’t you just love that amazing feeling you get when you wake up on a weekend and you feel as free as a bird? All the stresses of the week simply disappear and you’re free to do what you will!

I certainly do! Last weekend I went out to the forest, had a walk, and took some spectacular photos! They were great! Too bad I fell In a lake shortly after… The cameras still functioning properly, but the memory failed and this is the one photo I recovered! Oh well! At least it’s clean! 🙂

Lake on the side of a rock.

20121017-072257.jpg

Back to Cumbria, and as you can see it really “rocks” haha! Get it? Anyway I found this and I thought it really displayed a good contrast of focus! So here it is! Not much else to say!

Alpaca my bags!

20121016-190200.jpg
Due to a request from a friend I had no choice but to put this up 🙂 a few months ago I woke up and spontaneously went to an Alpaca farm! As you can tell it was a very exciting day indeed 😉 I left the farm with a far vaster knowledge of Alpacas, hair in my hands, and an egg that had been kindly donated to me by the farmer 🙂

Water on the Window Pane

Hello Everyone! Sorry for the late post today! felt a little ill. 😦 Still that didn’t stop me posting today photo! This was taken whilst in the Black Forest or “Schwarzwald” in Germany! It was a terrific experience and had some beautiful views! unfortunately most of them beautiful views never made it to my computer and so are now gone forever, However I still have this one and I hope you Enjoy it 😀

Another Theme?

It’s a new week and the theme will be Autumn/Water but the question still remains: which theme do you want next week??? 🙂

Fruit Tree.

Good morning everyone! How are you? Today is a new day, and with it comes a new theme! Autumn (and water)!

I’m not too sure whether this photo has the right quality to be on the blog but unfortunately I lost a lot of my photos recently, but I will tell that story later 🙂 It was difficult choosing whether this was more a winter photo or an autumn photo… So I tinted it slightly brown and I said it was Autumn. 😉

Shard in the sky.

20121014-154056.jpg

The final piece of the puzzle! This is the last photo under the London theme! Isn’t an amazing moment? Anyway this photo is a bit of an experiment as I tried using a new photo editing app, tell me what you think and remember to share this blog with your friends 😛

Brunette.

Today’s theme photo is going to be coming a little later, so whilst we wait, allow me to show you a portrait photo, which you have all been requesting! 🙂 This snap was taken on the way to Ireland, of my cousin. Obviously, I didn’t ask her permission to post it on here and I don’t remember whether she was particularly ecstatic about the photo in the first place, so this will be a fun surprise for her! 😀

A Place in Stratford.

20121012-070502.jpg

Good morning followers! How are you? Today is going to be a quick post, but I hope you like it 🙂

You asked me to give you a completely unedited version of a photo, so yesterday I went off to London to get some new photos, including this one 🙂 although it is HDR, it has no form of edits on it. 🙂

Millennium walk by the sun!

Ahhh the Millenium bridge! Always bustling with life and brimming with different cultures; To the north St. Paul’s Cathedral, an amazing piece of architecture and a beautiful building; to the south the Tate modern, a converted power plant that has some of the most famous pieces of modern art in the world held with in, not that modern art is particularly good 😛 but that’s just my opinion.

This picture was a bit stop and go unfortunately which is why the HDR seems to have failed slightly! On another note, I’m going to London today, so tomorrow you should see some freshly taken snaps! 😉

London’s Manhattan.

20121010-070315.jpg
Good morning! Today’s photo is a snap from canary wharf in Cabot square. The reason I called it ‘London’s Manhattan is because the whole area was made to look American and resemble the manhattan area of New york!

This photo is pretty strange, I took it and made it look like a sunny, bright day, but where I was it was pouring with rain! It just hadn’t spread to the canary wharf yet :O

It Was a Bright, Cold Day in April

Who likes the creepy reference? Well even if you don’t you can hopefully enjoy this photograph taken a while back. I don’t remember the exact time though, and, to be honest, I’m pretty sure this wasn’t taken in April :O

The main reason I chose this picture and not anything else is down to the small bush on the bottom right of the photo. Apart from it helping the composition, it is pretty peculiar to see any sorts of vegetation on the side of the Thames!

Photo vs Photo! Lake District…

Okay, so I decided this would be a fun addition to the blog! Basically you vote on the poll which photo you prefer, and then we find out!

Our First contestant- Autumn Lakes.

And our second contestant- Winter creeks…

You decide!

A black telephone box!

London! Wow! What a place! It has everything in it! from Sky-scraping Skyscrapers to cheap Chinese restaurants, London has everything! One of my favourite places is St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Millenium Bridge and the area around the Tate Museum. There are some stunning views and many vantage points to take interesting photos of the bus-tling city(see what I did there?)

Anyhow this picture was one of the luckiest snaps I ever took! I wasn’t looking, I pointed it at moving traffic, and HDR had been left on. It should have been a blur, but somehow I took this 🙂 probably the most surreal, photo I’ve taken, but it is definitely a cool one 😉

Best laid plans…

Okay, so this is the plan for my website from here on in, thanks to your suggestions this website has dramatically improved since it was established 4 days ago… Ahh, feels like yesterday! Anyway, it’s definitely going to be on the up and up!

One suggestion, that I was given was to every week give you the vote for a theme for the following weeks photos! I thought this was a brilliant Idea so from here on in I will be having a poll for the next week’s photo’s themes! This week it’ll be London, since there’s no time to vote, and I have pictures to spare, but On his post will also be a poll for what theme you wanted next week! If you want any others to be voted upon, just add it to the poll and it’ll be seen 🙂

On another note, the basics of the site is that, at least once a day a photograph will be posted by me, but on top of that I might also display fan work, ie. If you want me to post some of your photography just get in contact through either the facebook page, twitter page or the email account, snapsticle@gmail.com.
of course it doesn’t have to just be pictures! It could be paintings, or just your views on the site 🙂
If I find I have to many photos, I will also be posting them 🙂

This page will continue to grow thanks to your snaptacular ideas, and with any luck, this site will be even more enjoyable for both of us!

Water in a quiet place

20121007-121105.jpg

Okay, so turns out I fall over a lot! This happened while I was exploring Aira Force, a small but inspirational waterfall, in the Lake District of Cumbria! This is the same place where the famous poet, Wordsworth, was inspired to his world renowned poem, I wandered lonely as a cloud! Seeing the area I could see why! It was truly stunning an it would have been impossible to capture all of it’s beauty in a single photo! (unless I had a panorama feature)

When I started this expedition of sorts, I assumed it would take at most 15 minutes And would be at most 1km to the waterfall and back. I was wrong. It took 4 hours, and 5 miles. I now leave the map reading to others 🙂 anyway so halfway through walking I went and fell down the side of the fall, which luckily wasn’t to steep at this point and, being such a creative mind, I sat down and took pictures for 20 minutes. And that explains these picture 😛

Edit: somehow forgot to actually post the snap, that takes some skill don’t you think? Anyway it’s up now 😛
Re-edit: And then I choose the wrong photo, nice work Sam 😛 anyway you might not see the difference but this one is a lot more detailed 🙂

Reeds and Lakes, in a Park, in a Place.

20121006-094949.jpg

Who doesn’t love their local park? For some reason I barely come here, even though it is perfect for photos, especially on a sunny day!

This snap was pretty spontaneous, I fell down the side of the lake, landed by the reeds and just decided to take some pictures, casually 🙂

For The Record

Okay so this announcement is addressing basically everyone criticizing my work in the following ways:

  • That’s off Google!
  • Stop using Instagram! anyone can do that!
  • Why are you focusing on only half the stuff, idiot.

Obviously this doesn’t apply to most people, and I am really thankful of constructive/reasonable criticism. It is surprising, though, that such a large number have been making these repetitive and meaningless points!

Now I’m going to address each of these issues, one at a time:

  1. All of the photos so far have been mine, and I will be continuing to post my photos indefinitely! If I do happen to begin posting other peoples photography (probably my close friends) I would specify and create a new folder.
  2. I don’t use Instagram, or any other quick-fix, one click programs, for that matter. Not that using filters, is always a bad idea, but I don’t think they’re as professional, although it’s a matter of opinion. Either way I do not use any tools similar to that. I use the sorts of tools that selectively, adjust/enhance different areas of the photo or I just do a general adjust changing stuff like contrast or saturation
  3. This one actually really annoyed me, and I was surprised it came up so much. The basic reason that a camera can’t focus on the background and the foreground at the same time is because, like our own eyes, they adjust to one distance, and can only properly see that object. Also from an aesthetic standpoint, it almost always looks better, with a few exceptions, to have negative and positive space in terms of focus to help a composition.

Anyway, after that long rant, I just want to reinforce, I really encourage criticism to help me make a better blog and make it more fun for both of us,

Thank you and good night! 🙂

Coffee In The Morning…

Ahh… Coffee! Isn’t it proof of human intelligence? This was probably my first piece of photography, which really inspired me to carry on! I was requested for a “natural” photo, so here it is!
This was taken on my holiday to Ireland, with my mum, cousin and uncle, which was probably the most exciting holiday to ever have! My extended family greeted us with horse and cart, what more could you want?

Weirdly enough, my dad, who was having a holiday in Scotland with my brother and sister at that time, also took a very similar photo, obviously not as good as mine though! 😛
